Sunday!

Sundays are my favorite day of the week. No expectations or plans. Be lazy and do what you want when you want. So what did I do?

Went to my second favorite place - Office Max! It's like an adult candy store. I really only needed to pick up some banker boxes to file tax papers but ended up leaving with about 5 packs of pens. Hi, I'm Thuy and I'm a pen hoarder (only the good ones though.)

What would a day in my life would be without knitting? Started my Winter's Coming hat using Cascade 128 in Ice Blue and MountainTop Blackthorn by Classic Elite Yarns in Alabaster. This will be a sample for Boucle to get customers excited about knitting fair isle projects. This is a super simple pattern and works up in a few hours with chunky yarn. The only downside so far is the blue is staining my hands and bamboo needles and I'm a little worried the color will bleed when washed. Cross my fingers!

Worked on my Crimple sock a litte more. The foot pattern is pretty easy to follow and makes for nice almost mindless knitting. The yarn is The Plucky Knitter's MCN fingering in Route 66. It was originally caked for a different pair of socks but I ended up using it for this one.

Storm a-brewin'

Crossing my fingers for a snow day tomorrow! It was a lovely day here even with the crazy wind blowing. It is really abnormal for us to have this warm of a day in the middle of January, let alone have rain! The crappy thing about having nice weather here is that it usually is followed by some kind of storm and then a deep freeze a few days later.

It was a pretty uneventful day today, most of it was spent working. I did make sure to get my daily dose of fiber tonight though! It was Thursday spin night with Cheryl at Boucle. This is Michelle spinning like crazy on her Schacht Ladybug.

Haven't spun since August, but there is always knitting to do. Trying to finish up the last few inches on my Color Affection shawl in time for class next Tuesday night. I think I can, I think I can.

a random hump day post

Quiet day here! Wednesdays are usually my day off work, which means running around to appointments and ending with Wed. night knitting.

Somehow when I wake up in the morning there seems to be lots of time to get everything done. Then it's 11 pm and I wonder where the day went. There was some yoga-ing at Xtreme Measures (it's actually BTS Centergy) and then my monthly blood donation. Sorry, that is the only picture I managed to take today!

Some knitting at Boucle, late b-day dinner with Sheila and AJ and then casting on a Honey Cowl for another class I will be teaching later this month.

Apparently I need a new blog banner/logo since I don't know what happened to the last one. Trying to bribe the lil sis into making me a new one. Sure is nice to have a graphic designer in the fam.

Remembering to take pics throughout the day is gonna take some effort! G'nite all =)

Revival

After a long period of dormancy, I've decided I wanted to try this blogging business again. It's really difficult because I'm a very quiet person and better at listening than speaking/writing.

My only goal is to chronicle my year, if not in words then at least a picture of what is happening that day. A week late already but that means you get a few pics to look at!

Sunday Jan. 6th was my 31st birthday and that was harder to take than my 30th. Went out for brunch with my buddy Michelle and had an awesome Bloody Mary. Hardly had room for food when I was done with that.

Got beautiful flowers from my in-laws

and finished one of my X-Country Mittens for Boucle Yarn Studio. This is a kit from Mountain Colors and took me less than 1 day for the left mitten. Very simple pattern and fun to knit!

finish line!

I finished this last night and was able to get decent pics today! I couldn't be more proud of myself for accomplishing this goal which seemed ridiculous when it was first set. Enjoy!

Let the games begin!

I'm participating in this year's Ravelympics and I have a huge challenge to myself!

Goal: Start and finish the Tea Leaves Cardigan in 17 days for Team Sundara
Yarn : 5 skeins of Sundara Sport Merino in Spring Rain

I got 21 rows done during the opening ceremonies. Project specs can be found here.
